In Mallorca, I stayed in Cala d'Or, which is about an hour drive from the Palma de Mallorca airport. I had decided to rent a car on the island because there were so many incredible towns to visit that were only accessible by car. I'm sure you can guess where this is going...
The next morning, as I was walking to the car, I saw that part of the bumper was floating: someone had hit my rental FIAT. Great. It was my first time renting a car by myself and of course it didn't go smoothly. Thankfully I was with my cousin who provided some moral support as this all unfolded. Driving 30kmh below the speed limit so the bumper wouldn't fly off, I had to drive the car back to the rental place to get a new car. Thankfully, I had bought the extra 100€ insurance because otherwise, that bumper would have cost me over 1000€.
Regardless of this minor bump in the schedule, the rest of the day was fantastic. We started off by going to Valdemossa, a small village near the mountains where we had lunch — it reminded me a lot of Napa. We then headed to another village similar to Valdemossa, called Deià. This was definitely a wealthier village because every single building was perfectly maintained. Next, we went to a village called Soller and took an old and wooden tram that took us to the Port de Soller, a village on a water port.
