Solo Traveling in a Hostel in Lagos

My travels throughout Portugal were the first true, solo traveling I have ever done and I found that staying at the right hostels can make or break your experience. In Lagos, I stayed at Top City Hostel & Suites which is said to be a very social hostel and I came to find that very accurate.

In the morning, I signed up for the Bengali Cave Tour through my hostel and the cave really lives up to the hype. They gave me and 4 other girls from my hostel life jackets to put on before swimming into the cave. Most people went with kayaks or by boat, but kayaks seemed really difficult to get out with and the boats didn’t let you hop out to go onto the sand. The swim was around 10 minutes, and it was very very cold but super worth it!

After, I hung out at my hostel's pool with a few of the girls from my shared dorm room, getting to know each other and becoming friends. There were girls from Australia, Scotland and Germany and all invited me to visit them if I am ever in their hometown. It was so fun to meet people from different parts of the world in a foreign country.

My last activity of the day was sunset beach yoga, which was awesome. I had never done beach yoga before but it was pretty difficult given that we don’t have a flat, stable surface to plant our feet on. I felt so relaxed and so at peace, really rounding up a lovely summer vacation before my senior year of college.
